Off to Denmark!

Well, Sweden is wonderful and the folks are so very nice. One of the most outstanding things I found in walking around Stockholm is the quietness. You can actually hear people talking across the street. The cars get inspected once a year and they are all very efficient and quiet. The busses and trams are also quiet. Little dogs are allowed on the trains and busses and even in shops. There are a number of bikes around too. I had a great time and have been welcomed to return to couch surf at Roberts again.
Bank of America decided I am not me so cancelled my debit card. It is probably a good thing there is no branch over here as I would go in and kick some ass. Instead I get to work through another challenge of finding a place to copy my ID's and debit card and fax off information to the stupid idiots but first I will have to get a phone number here as they want to call me to confirm all is well. ...lovely...
Did I mention that the first night I got to Stockholm we went out to supper at an English Pub? After the 4 night event we returned to Stockholm and went to supper at TGI Fridays. What a treat---NOT--- Anyway there was beer involved so that made up for it. There was lots of whiskey at the event, and beer. The whiskey was the most lovely single malt scotch I ever had.
I took some pictures of Mmaaaxx visiting the Viking site we had the event at and will post those when I get a chance so keep checking back.
Now I am on a train bound for Copenhagen Denmark and will spend two weeks, at least, in a campground there. More to come~

Stockholm is beautiful!

Well, I made it to Stockholm yesterday. I left Pensacola Florida on Monday at 8 am and after two planes finally got to Newark NJ an hour late and after a couple hours layover finally boarded the big jet bound for Stockholm. And we were held captive on a tarmack for another hour and more. aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggg~~~~!!!!
Well, after another several hours of flying and little sleep since I took off from Florida the big jet finally set down in Arlanda airport here. I was one of the last off the plane and the entire crowd of folks had already disappeared so I walked endlessly through this completely deserted airport trying to find signs of life, or at least my checked items. I finally found a sleepy looking boarder crossing person who stamped my passport and pressed the buzzer that allowed me into Sweden. After finding three humans past that point I also found my checked bags and began the adventure of figuring out how to make a phone call (my cell laughed when I asked it if it would work here) and purchase a bus ticket into Stockholm central station to meet up with the person I was to couch surf with for the next week.

I will tell you all that if you ever wonder how best to deal with jet lag I think I have found the answer. Stay mostly awake for almost 24 hours, eat very little, drink a couple of beers, and then land in Sweden at the height of midsummer when it is light until 10 pm and rose around 3:30 am. It was light when I went to bed, light when I got up for the midnight trip to the bathroom and still light when I finally got out of the blankets at 5:30 am. It is still light and I wander between the kitchen and the blankets in a desperate wonder if I am tired or hungry so I just wash my face again and look out the window into the enclosed courtyard and chat with Robert who has gifted me with a temporary home.

Well, this afternoon I go off with some other folks to help set up for an SCA event this weekend so hope I figure out when to actually sleep and when to play. It would be so nice if I could stay awake during the fun parts of the weekend~

More next week.

My co-workers made me do this.....

I probably won't be much good at this as I was never one to keep a journal or diary but folks around here wanted to follow my mis-adventures and mischief on my travels. So here you go! Most likely I will have to set a weekly reminder to get on here and write something or see if anyone out there wrote something. It says somewhere that I can add pictures but I will most likely set up a flickr account. Who knows; I may actually enjoy this~

End of my first post. Hope you enjoyed it.
